reward vs. challenge

We must cover the whole reward versus challenge thing when it comes to being an online fitness professional and I'm not going to sugarcoat it.

Let's start with the challenges because this is where a lot of people trip up. The more I do this, the more I see that success in this space doesn’t always come from the people you’d expect. Not every personal trainer working at a gym has that entrepreneurial spirit or the drive to make something happen for themselves.

THE CHALLENGES

First off, stepping out as your own entity is tough. You're leaving behind the safety net of the gym. Remember—the gym's already spent a ton of money on their marketing, they've got their systems in place, and they’re basically handing you potential clients every day, right in front of your face, for you to turn into paying customers. Now, if you struggle to convert those clients when they’re practically being delivered to you, how are you going to handle doing everything on your own?
Because let me tell you, the hours you put in at the start of this online business? They’re no joke. You’re creating digital tools, refining your messaging, constantly tweaking things, keeping yourself in top shape because, hey, you’re the face of your business. You’ve got to be out there posting consistently, checking in on clients, giving extra attention to those who need it—all while managing the pressure of building something from scratch.
And this is where most people buckle. They’ve got bills to pay, maybe a family to support, and they're relying on this venture to keep them afloat financially. Most people can’t handle that kind of pressure. They burn out. They don’t give it the time it needs to see real results. They don’t pivot when things aren’t working. They don’t seek out extra help. They quit. They either go back to the safety of a gym job, or worse, they leave the industry altogether and end up in some random job just to pay the bills, all while feeling their soul slowly crumble because they’re not doing what they love.
And that’s wild to me. You’d think someone who’s disciplined enough to work out regularly and transform their own fitness would have the grit to tackle anything. But here’s the truth: lifting weights? That’s physical. Once you’re in a routine, your body knows what to do. You can pretty much switch off your brain and go through the motions. Yeah, getting started is tough, but once you’re in it, it’s routine—like brushing your teeth. But building a business? That’s a whole different beast. It’s like the first few weeks of starting your fitness journey, but you never get to coast. You’re under constant pressure, facing mental challenges every week for the first 12 to 24 months, and that’s where the real test is.

THE REWARDS

But here’s the flip side—the rewards. And let’s be real, they’re massive. If you push through those early challenges, you’ve got the potential to build a business that’s not only financially successful but also gives you freedom. Imagine making a solid income while being able to work from anywhere in the world. You're not just making money—you’re making an impact on people’s lives. You’re changing their bodies, their energy levels, their abilities, and even their mindsets. That impact doesn’t just stop with them—it filters out to their family, friends, colleagues, and everything they touch in life. That’s huge.
And as your business grows, you get to bring more people onto your team. You’re not just creating a job for yourself; you’re creating jobs for others. You’re helping them provide for their families, and you’re doing it in an industry they’re passionate about. Think about how powerful that is. You’re building something bigger than yourself—something that creates a ripple effect of positive change.
So, yeah, there’s a ton of work involved, and the challenges are real. But the rewards? They’re worth every bit of struggle. When you make it, it’s not just about the money or the business you’ve built. It’s about the lives you’ve changed, including your own. And that, my friend, is why it’s worth pushing through the tough stuff. Don’t underestimate what it takes, but also, don’t underestimate what’s waiting for you on the other side.

GETTING SUPPORT

Staying on track with like-minded people can honestly make all the difference when you’re trying to grow your fitness business. There are tons of coaches and mentors out there who can help you nail down your business goals. And yeah, these services aren’t the cheapest option out there, but when you think about what you get out of it, they’re worth every penny. So, don’t just brush off the expertise that’s available to you. Business coaching is blowing up for a reason—it works.
Over here, we really bring something extra to the table: we’ve got this whole accountability layer built in, which is honestly the secret sauce when it comes to staying on track. It’s all about having that mirror held up to you, showing you exactly what you’ve done and what you haven’t done. There’s no hiding from it. If your business isn’t growing and you’re not putting in the work, then guess what? There’s no one to blame but yourself.
You should definitely check out our Accountability Circle (view our services). This is where you’ll be mixing it up with other like-minded people who are on the same journey as you. It keeps your goals front and center every single day, which is exactly what you need. You need those daily reminders, those daily actions. Things don’t just happen overnight—unless you’ve got some massive investor backing you up, and even then, you’ve still got to put in the work consistently. Every. Single. Day. You’ve got to be strong in this.
Being around others who are grinding just as hard as you keeps you motivated, keeps you accountable, and keeps you moving forward. So, if you’re serious about hitting your business goals, don’t overlook the power of having the right people in your corner. This isn’t just about quick wins; it’s about building something sustainable, something real. And the only way to do that is by putting in the work and keeping your eye on the prize.
